Rash Treatment
Identifying, Diagnosing, & Treating Skin Problems
Rashes often show up without warning and are difficult to ignore. If you are dealing with a rash, you most likely want treatment as soon as possible. At Jupiter Medical Center Urgent Care, we can provide assistance as soon as you notice the itching, burning, or other uncomfortable symptoms.
Some of the most common types of skin rashes are:
- Eczema: Inflammation in kids and adults that produces itchy red rashes most often on inner elbows, backs of knees, neck, and wrists
- Seborrheic dermatitis: Treatable but not curable chronic inflammation most often occurring around the scalp, eyebrows, ears, chest, and back
- Diaper rash: Occurs when infants wear diapers and skin is in contact with waste matter for too long
- Contact dermatitis: Rashes that occur when skin comes in contact with irritating chemicals and substances, such as poison ivy, poison oak, and nickel
- Hives: Red bumps that appear suddenly, sometimes caused by certain drugs
- Psoriasis: A scaly, flaky rash that often occurs on the scalp, knees, or elbows
- Pityriasis rosea: Usually a mild, itchy, scaly patch on the chest or back, pink in color
Most rashes are not indicative of a larger health problem, but certain rashes, such as those produced by fungal or bacterial infections, require specific kinds of medicine to clear up. Our medical providers can determine what might be causing a rash and start you on a treatment plan.
